Bel Canto and the Italian Technique

Bel canto is a style of singing that emphasizes a smooth continuous legato line and a natural forward placement of the vowels. The Italian Technique (or Italian school of singing) refers to the pedagogical and vocal techniques that were developed in association with the bel canto style. Mastery of the basics of the Italian vocal technique provides a student with a good foundation for almost any style of singing.
